When there is any fault in the system, the engine check light will on when the engine is running. We can check where the fault is by read the flash code. Check the manual and find out how to check the flash code.
For Toyota 4A-FE engine flash code reading, we should connect E1 and TE1 in diagnostic plug, when key is on, the check engine light will flash. Depend the time between each flash, we can count how many times the light was flashed, and there is the flash code.
Flash Code:
The first fault:
This code is 41, that means throttle position sensor circuit fault. Then check the TPS circuit, the TPS sensor is disconnected
The second fault:
This code is 24, that means intake air temperature sensor circuit fault. Then check the IAT circuit, the IAT sensor is disconnected.
The third fault:
This code is 31, that means vacuum sensor circuit fault. Then check the MAP sensor circuit, the MAP sensor is disconnected.
Turn the key to off position, after 30 seconds, turn on the engine, and the fault codes are cleared. The check engine light is off, all back to normal condition.
After we found fault code. We should do visual check first then do the multimeter or oscilloscope test to find out where the fault is.
